It looks relatively simple, and the ability to record HD signals to an MCE PC is unprecedented. Hopefully manufacturers will start to incorporate features like this into the hardware right out of the box. Some sort of digital set top box is going to be necessary to use digital cable, which most people have. Hacks like this are going to be the only way to access that digital feed, unless something changes. CableCARD sure isn't looking like a promising answer. :?
