I just purchased a 2125. I have charged it up and the phone works well. I also purchase the unlimited smartphone package for $19.99 per month.

I attempted to reach the internet and it says "can not make the call".

What did the Cingular clerk fail to configure? Can someone suggest what to do to prevent a 30 mile trip to have them reconfigure the device.

:?: :?: :?:

You'll have to explain things a little more. What were you attempting to do when you got the error message "can not make the call"? Are you trying to use your Smartphone as a Modem for your laptop? Are you just using IE MObile, email, or some other app on the phone?

Thank you for your rapid reply.

I was attempting to make my first connection to the internet after arriving home and charging the phone fully.

I went to START-->IE -->MSN Mobile and then the error message "ERROR Unable to place call".

I appreciate any advice.

is this a new account? if it is then it can take upto 48 hours for your data services to kick in. it is rare when this happens, but it does happen sometimes.

also, you might want to try turning the phone off and then turning the phone back on. that might help as well.

This is an excellent group of users.

The issue was apparently due to the clerk who failed to initialize the rights on the Cingular Server. She reset rights this am and then I turned the 2125 off as suggested above and everything thing is working well.

Thanks for each response to the query.

Would there be a reading reference which you would recommend as to steps to take to set the phone up as a modem to allow internet access thru a Pocket PC or a laptop using the Cingular network?

Thanks so much for the earlier responses.....

Sure. Check out our articles section, Kris Kumar wrote one that should still work for todays devices.

You have been superbly responsive. Thanks so very much.

From readings on the Forum, I am assuming that as I use the Smartphone 2125 as a modem for my laptop or my PDA, I will not be billed any further charges as I have an unlimited 19.95 per month use contract.

I have read different things but I may have misunderstood the other postings.

Have a wonderful weekend. Again thank you very much for your assistance.

Great Forum....
