A co-worker would like to have some of the data features, like syncing a calendar and address book with a PC, writing simple memos, etc. but to only use a voice plan. He doesn't intend to "surf" and so don't want to pay extra for a data plan every month. Any recommendations on which phone would work well with Verizon for this scenario? Thanks.

A quick review of vzw's site shows no msft Smartphones currently available. You could buy an i600 off of eBay or wait for the moto Q which may one day be available.

If you want a good Smartphone I'd suggest dumping vzw and going with a GSM carrier as the sky is the limit with them.

Good luck.

Thanks. I think the company wants Verizon due to reception. In our area, Cingular and t-mo coverage is not as good.

Pardon the ignorance, but does Verizon support SIM-carded phones and if so, do you have to buy a data plan?

I'm a PocketPC guy, so the whole smartphone thing is new to me. Thanks.

Currently, VZW's website shows three Windows PDA Phones:
Treo 700W
XV7600
Samsung SCH-i730

You do NOT have to buy a data plan. In that case you would simply pay $.015 per kilobyte.
