My first copy was registered for an old Palm OS device, back in 2001. In 2002 when I moved to the Pocket PC platform (at that time yet to be called Windows Mobile), WorldMate was the first program installed on my new Pocket PC. It is now time to have WorldMate 2005 running on my Windows Mobile Smartphone. But does it perform like I remember? The new version provides some – but not all – of the features available on the Pocket PC version. You will find the World Clock, Weather, World Map, Currency Conversion, Flight Status functions. The missing functions are the Travel Itineraries, Country and Area Codes, Packing List Organiser, Apparel Size Converter and Unit Converters."</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.smartphonethoughts.com/images/Temporale-20050321-WorldMateReview.jpg" alt="User submitted image" title="User submitted image"/> <br /><br />In case you were wondering if the new subscription based WorldMate for the Smartphone was worth the cost, Geekzone has done the research. Check out the review, and be sure to try it out before buying. :)

I was a beta tester for this WorldMate product and was immediately impressed. I'm a long time Palm version WorldMate Pro user.

I'm a frequent traveler domestically in the US and in Europe as well as the Caribbean. The one feature I really wanted, which works great in the Smartphone version of WorldMate, is the Flight Status feature. The only trouble I've had with the feature is when Cingular's GPRS system has had problems such as over the last few days.

To me, the Flight Status feature alone makes the yearly subscription fee very much worth it. Unlike with the Palm version the 1 year program subscription includes unlimited use of all WorldMate features. (The Palm version includes the use of separately purchased tokens for flight status inquiries.)

By the way in the GeekZone article they mentioned that the registration number only works one time which is true, however, if you have trouble and have to reinstall the program MobiMate will send you a new registration number quickly. I had to reinstall WorldMate Pro on my Palm a couple of times and Mobimate quickly gave me new numbers for registration. Their support has been excellent over the years.
