MultiPlayer Games?

Does anyone know of any multiplayer (phone to phone) games? I'm thinking via SMS for example. I used to play Battleship on my old 2way pager with other people who had the same pager. What I liked about it was you could play over time. Whenever it was your turn when you felt like taking a shot you picked your grid point and fired. On the other end the person would get the sound of an incoming shot and could at their leisure see where they had been hit.

A chess game could be played this way too.
