I have used my MPx220 as a modem for my iPaq 2210.

I also faced the same problem. While creating the connection, I entered *99# as the dial string and the most important setting (its under Advanced) set Baud Rate to 38400. The default of 19200 didn't work and leads to the problem you have described.

BTW..I use the MPx220 with T-Mobile service.

Have you looked at the BT guides on Geekzone..
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=449

I used the following one..

The only thing I did differently was at the tail end of the setup process, when I was asked to enter the number to dial and username/password, I changed the baud rate.

As for Cingular being the culprit, will have to wait for a Cingular user to confirm that.

One thing you can do is, to find out if it is a Cingular issue or BT issue is to use a laptop or desktop computer. And use the phone as a modem for the desktop or laptop computer. If you can use dial up networking over USB on a computer then Cingular is allowing data access. And Pocket PC is not working becoz of BT issue.

I think it has to do with BT issue. As a first time BT user, I went thru a lot of pain. You need patience and all the guides you can get. :-)
