I am looking for a bluetooth capable smartphone, anyone have suggestions? I live in the US

Your only choice at this very minute is the HTC Voyager phones. (Orange's e200, Qtek 8080, etc).

Look on eBay, and in the Buy&Sell columns at this and other sites. you may have a good chance of getting one at Modaco.com's Buy/Sell section as they are primarily in the UK where those phones are abundant.

I have an e200 that I LOVE and am using it in the Philadelphia Area under AT&T with no problems at all. (I bought it from someone in the UK!)
