View Full Version : Socket Bluetooth SIDO Fails...

I've tried the Socket Bluetooth SIDO SD card (Mfd by Toshiba) in my MPx200. It doesn't work. When the the card is installed while the phone is on, the OS locks up hard and requires a battery removal reboot.

Inserting the card while the the Moto is off allows a regular boot. It doesn't appear that the card works then either.

Installing the drivers from the CD (2002 CE version) doesn't work...the drivers hang on the .cab installation portion. I wound up performing a "full" (hard) reset after this attempt because I could not install any other software.

The Motorola MPx200 Smartphone does not support BSQUARE SDIO Now! (http://www.bsquare.com/products/sdionow/) at this time, so the Socket Bluetooth SDIO Card (http://www.socketcom.com/product/BL4800-392.asp) will not work on it. Check out the list of BSQUARE SDIO Now! Licensees (http://www.bsquare.com/products/sdionow/licensees.asp) - Motorola is not presently listed.

I honestly did not expect it to work, it was just fun to try, and I thought others might like to know it doesn't work (or they know of a workaround).

The way the card sticks out from the slot makes it rather unappealing even if it did work.

Too bad Moto didn't put the headphone jack and SD slot on the top.

FWIW, both Microsoft and Socket are listed as supporting vendors on
the BSquare site, so since the card and OS are listed, it was worth a try.
The MPx200 does list SIDO support as a fuction. I am going to give the Toshiba stacks (possibly not SIDONow! stacks) a try when I feel like messing with master resets again (the Socket card is an OEM Toshiba SD Bluetooth SD...even says Toshiba on the back).

I'd be happier if someone just wrote actual drivers. I don't want to bring ANOTHER party in on my driver and program mishmash.

I was advised through several reviews that the MPx200 is not SDIO compatible, but that fails to explain how Motorola is then able to develop a camera that goes in that very slot.

Is the 200 SDIO or not? I can't find anything from Motorola that states thios - could someone please check in their user manual and let me know?

I have posted a support question to Motorola for an answer, but I have read elsewhere on reliable information that the phone is *not* SDIO compatible.
