<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.ppcw.net/?itemid=1487' target='_blank'>http://www.ppcw.net/?itemid=1487</a><br /><br /></div>A few days ago Arne released ROM version 1.50.8.6 on PPCW.Net for owners of his i-Mate Smartphone devices.<br /><br />"The new ROM is a major improvement for the overall stability of your device so it is highly recommended to upgrade your Smartphone. However, please take the time to do it carefully."<br /><br />While this is specifically for i-Mate owners, it seems to work on all SPV and Tanager devices. Of course, if you aren't an i-Mate owner you should be very cautious with doing this since it ROM flashing has the potential to turn your device into a useless brick if not done correctly. Personally, I plan to try this on my Tanager as soon as I get everything backed up. With this, I might <i>finally</i> be able to get my Eleksen keyboard to work.

For sure you get your keyboard working with this ROM! :D No Problem at all like with the initial PPCW.Net i-Mate ROM. ;-)
If you don't have the driver by your hands - you can download it from here: http://www.ppcw.net/index.php?itemid=1341

Maybe Arne knows it so you can ask him dircelty... ;-)
The ROM upgrade to 2003 is a different story and if I will be able to offer it I can offer it to my PPCW.Net i-Mate customers only and I wouldn't expect it to be free - it's the same like a Pocket PC upgrade to 2003.
Regarding the Toshiba - I'm not affiliated with Toshiba and I don't sell any Toshiba devices but the Tanager only. I even don't own a Toshiba... So no - I don't have any stocks in there...

This ROM update works fine on my SPV. Battery life is MUCH better since I upgraded from an obscure Dutch ROM.
The camera is almost usable now, and the Camera and Photo applications are a big improvement.

Isn't that a pretty unfair statement? Arne is a reseller, not a manufacturer.

That would be like yelling at CompUSA because the toshiba you bought there isn't being upgraded by toshiba.

considering that toshiba dosent manufacture therir pda's any more than hp does (or arne does for that matter) it seems perfectly fair

Maybe but this is Smartphone Thoughts not Pocket PC Thoughts... ;-)
So I'm not responsible for Toshiba... Am I? 8O
I will try to give the best support I can give to my i-Mate owners. I'm also not blaming myself that there is no update for the Casio E-200 because I bought it, not sold it myself... ;-)

Also I'm not sure what you mean with hp? You know what the PPCW.Net i-Mate (http://shop.ppcw.net/imate_ppct.php) is - do you!? :?:

Arne - what % chance is there that you will provide an upgrade to Smartphone 2003?

Allright - let's get into semantics. Arne is not the entity that contracts with Microsoft to provide the license to you to use the Smartphone Operating System. The ROM image that came on the imate is an HTC rom image. It is not a PPCW image (you can go to the imate.com site and download the exact same image).

Arne is just selling the things. If you sold me your smartphone do I have any right to complain to you if no upgrade is available?
