We Are Nexus S: Resistance Is Futile

These, among a few other, are the reasons I still carry my Nexus One. For me it is the software more than anything. I will not own an HTC branded phone, I do NOT want Sense. I will not own a Motorola phone as I refuse to use Motoblur. Even Samsung cannot leave well enough alone. Give me stock Android any day. I must admit that I am a hardware spec junkie, so I am willing to accept a few more issues in that area than on the software front but I cannot argue with Chris' point on making it&nbsp;purely&nbsp;a hardware race and letting everything else fall by the wayside. How about you guys? Ever had a phone or device that you just kept coming back to time and time again?</p>

I started my Android experience with a Nexus One. Now I'm worried about whether there will be another worthy "Nexus" when my N1 finally wears out. I mean one that is significantly superior in hardware specs. Nexus S caught my attention for about 5 minutes at which point I read it didn't have a memory card slot. I guess I'm doomed to custom-romin' some device where the manufacturer couldn't see the value in the stock Android UI.

I have Nexus S for a month now and for me personally the "clean" Android is the greatest benefit of the device.
Sure the HW is not cutting edge like Galaxy S2 but having the latest OS version on the device, knowing you'll be getting updates as they are released and that (I hope so) device will be supported much longer than it would by some other Manufacturer easily outweights the fact that HW is "last year only".

But on the other hand, I can see the benefits of having customized Android too.
Typicall customer probably likes something with HTC's Sense much better than stock Android - he get's pretty much all that he needs in one allready set up package with not much need to do additional customization - the experience is much more Apple like.

I feel that way with the Dell Streak 5 I got from my employer to test for my department. The 5" screen is incredible and once Dell finally got around to pushing out 2.2, the phone rocks.

I can't see going back to a smaller screen or inferioir hardware (1ghz, 512 ram). I did look at the Samsung Infuse (4.5" screen, 1.2ghz) but I've gotten this phone setup so that I know where everything is and to restore that on another phone seems to be too much effort.

(Hopefully, they forget to ask for the phone back) :D

I've seriously eying the Galaxy S 2 even though I don't really agree with how Sammy has to muck with everything but it is unlocked and will work with AT&T 3G. That and the hardware specs are awesome. Though with the rumors floating around about an NFC enabled Galaxy S 2 just around the corner I am forced to wait and see yet again. :)

Maybe I can make my Nexus One last until the Nexus M or Nexus 3 or whatever comes out.

Actually I don't think I'd care much about an upgrade if my stinkin Nexus One had more memory... I am constantly having to uninstall programs I actually use just to get space for things I use more. /sigh
