Why did they do such a thing? Because tonight they are officially announcing the T-Mobile G-Slate with Google by LG that has, you guessed it plenty of 3D capability!"</em></p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/adt/auto/1296855566.usr206.jpg" style="border: 0;" /></p><p>Rumors have been flying since we were teased with the "T-Mobile G-Slate with Google by LG" back at CES. Many of those rumors involved the device having a 3D screen. Well, it appears that those rumors were true. The G-Slate supports an 8.9-inch 3D capable screen and even has the ability to capture 3D and HD content with its dual rear facing cameras. If that weren't enough the G-Slate is powered by a dual core Tegra 2, has 32GBs of memory built in, an HDMI out port, and will be available "this spring". If you just can't get enough of this sweet new device <a href="http://www.tmonews.com/2011/02/t-mobile-offers-sign-up-page-for-g-slate/" target="_blank">T-Mobile has put up a sigh-up page</a> so you can get the latest and greatest info as it becomes available. Anyone else out there think this baby looks cooler than the Xoom?</p>

How come no one is making wifi only tab's?
I will never buy a tab through a cell phone company!

Same here. I don't want yet another contract and momthly fee for something I will mostly be using in locations with wifi.
There have been many a rumor of a wifi only galaxy tab and recent rumors of a wifi only xoom. There may be hope yet. ;)

Though I'm with you. I won't be getting a tablet from a carrier.

Actually, I wouldn't mind one from a cell phone company, if it came with VOICE CALLING enabled! (Thank you T-Mobile, for crippling the Galaxy Tab! - See european version) Hell, for that matter, I'd even go for an unlocked GSM-based tablet, if it was decent & had voice.

That said, anyone know of any (7" or higher) tablets coming out, that are expected to have voice capability in the US?

And I'm NOT talking about Skype, Google Voice, or any other VOIP service. I don't want to have a call drop if I get outside of a 3G/4G area!

I wonder if the G-Slate is going to be Google's developer tablet. I'm holding out for the Nexus Tablet. My Nexus One has spoiled me with updates.

Anyone heard anything?

I agree about not buying from a carrier. Whatever I buy will be a wifi only tablet.

From what I can tell the Xoom is the "Nexus Tablet". it was the first device to launch with 3.0 and is the device they handed out and GDC to developers and I imagine folks at google IO will get one too.

It is stock Honeycomb and easily rootable/flashable. I am planning on getting the wifi only version when it is released.
At least I think. :) The new galaxy tab looks nice too. But I really think the Motorola Xoom will get the updates first since it is the unofficial/official dev tablet.

I thought that too, but the original Droid came out with stock android. Then a few months later the Nexus One was announced. It took almost a year for it to get a later version of android though.

I'd love an official one. Though I'm not sure I can see Google doing that with a tablet. I hope they do though and before I buy a xoom. :)
