Yesterday I posted about my complete lack of success in trying to buy a Samsung Focus from my local wireless carrier, Rogers Wireless. It seems mind-boggling that I can't buy one of these phones from my carrier yet, and it's frustrating to be running a Windows Phone site without access to a modern Windows Phone, but an unexpected source has come to my rescue: LG's PR firm in South Korea has sent me two LG Quantums! Talk about getting it directly from the source - awesome!

I'll be posting an unboxing video early next week, but as you've noticed, there are two. And you know what that means: contest give away time! Stay tuned for details, but one lucky Windows Phone Thoughts reader will get one of these phones. Happy Thanksgiving to all of our readers from the USA!

I'm jealous! Also a Rogers subscriber and frustrated with their lack of availability. I like the screen on the Focus, but the physical keyboard and additional LG apps (DLNA, augmented reality) make the Quantum's lack of Super AMOLED a worthwhile tradeoff. Looking forward to your review!

Hmmmm... I wonder what HSPDA bands this unit supports? It may be for the European/Asian market and thus only support 3G on T-mobile. It may not provide 3G on Rogers/AT&T...

Update -- ooopss, sorry, missed the AT&T logo on the bottom of the box. Should be good to go..!

See how AT&T is stamped on the box? It's North American 3G. :)

Thanks for the (upcoming) opportunity to win one of these. I was wondering whether this phone would be worth it or not and am still curious. Thanks for remembering the US Thanksgiving holiday as well. Enjoying the time off work and spending time with friends/family.

I look forward to the details of the giveaway whenever it comes. Thanks again for your work on this site. It's amazing how long you've been managing it now.

Well three cheers for them. I can think of another organization that should have taken care of that weeks ago.

LOL....you'd think they would see the value wouldn't you? I'm surprised. ;)

I have been with Rogers since 1993 and can't get a windows 7 phone either. So much for customer loyalty. I, for some reason, have been partial to the windows platform on my pda's and smartphones. I just can't seem to break the affinity. Maybe a droid fix from my sister can help this.

Can't wait to see the content details. I really want a WP7 as my Samsung Jack has run it's course. Unfortunately I have to wait until 12/31 to upgrade.

The guy at the AT&T store said I could buy a Go Phone and use that for a month. I liken that to trading in a car for a bike. It will work, it'll just stuck the entire time you have to use it.

Yeah, it's a little puzzling that all my efforts to get my hands on a WP7 device have met with failure. The Rogers PR rep told me they had no Samsung Focus' to loan out, that it was being handled by Samsung. The Samsung PR rep told me they'll eventually get review units, but I said that since I was going to buy one, getting a loaner device didn't make much sense - of course, if I'd known that it was going to be three weeks of failed attempts to get one, I might have taken her up on the offer.

To be fair though, HTC offered me an HD7 for review and I opted to have it sent to Doug Raeburn, who's reviewing it now. So HTC did try to help. :)

I am a torn ATT user. The Samsung Focus has a beautiful screen -- but I do love the hardware keyboard on this puppy.
