Jailbreaking for me is no longer necessary, unless it's the first step in fully unlocking - when I travel internationally I like to use 'local' service rather than paying at&t's rates for international roaming & data. My iPhone 3GS was 'factory unlocked' so it wasn't needed, but the iPhone 4, maybe.
