Default Self Publish on the iPad

http://www.appleinsider.com/article...publishing.html

"Self-publishing authors will be able to offer their titles on Apple's iBookstore for the iPad at almost no cost, potentially breaking down the barriers for independent writers who want to sell their work across the globe."

Smashwords, which is a self-publishing service for authors, has signed a deal to put books into the iBook store, which will also be part of the iBooks application. The books have to end their pricing at 99 cents, ie $9.99 USD, and they can be as low as $0.99 USD. Seems like a pretty good way to get your book published, and get exposure. I see the authors get roughly 85% of the net sales and a smaller figure from affiliate sales. I wonder how that will work with Apple since they have a different breakdown, any thoughts?
