Default Sling Media updates Windows Mobile Client

http://www.theunwired.net/?item=upd...meets+wireless)

"While Sling Media's SlingPlayer Mobile for Windows Mobile was the company's first mobile SlingPlayer client for its famous Slingboxes, it came into its years since the initial SlingPlayer Mobile 1.0 for Windows Mobile was pretty stylus-centric and Sling Media already showed-off - how a nice looking finger-friendly GUI could look when the company released its Apple iPhone/iPod Touch SlingPlayer Mobile. Now, after months of work, Sling Media released its SlingPlayer Mobile 2.0 for Windows Mobile 6.x touchscreen-based Professional smartphones which features a similar, finger friendly GUI by not cutting-off any of the Windows Mobile features including native streaming over 3G wireless networks."

the::unwired is reporting that Slingplayer's new Windows Mobile version is finger friendly and quite capable. Slingers can check it out and let us know what they think.

I have an original Slingbox and the update warns me that it may not be compatible with the new software...after the update. Seems to be working though. They point you at the site where you can get a little break on getting a new slingbox.

Loaded mine on my AT&T Pure. Logging into the service drove me to my stylus (and reading glasses) for username/password, but beyond that it seems pretty finger friendly. Don't use it enough to be able to comment on any other significant changes. Hadn't actually loaded my old version on the Pure yet, so this was a 'fresh' install. Loaded 1.6 and let it do the update.

The "incompatability" with older Slingboxes seems to be that the Favorites won't work any more.

With the old player, I could predefine channels and just click on their logo.

Apparently I've lost that ability with the new player, which probably depends on the box to store them now.

The new player also seems to stream more data for better definition, as I used to be able to flip over to read email while still listening to the sound, but my cpu seems more burdened.

All in all though, I love the finger friendliness and looks. I just wish I could swipe to go up or down channels on my Imagio, instead of having to tap and bring up a remote keypad.
