Default Speck SeeThru For The White UniBody MacBook

When I first picked up my MacBook Pro couple years ago, a Speck Hard Shell was one of the first things I ordered for it, and it has served it well over the years. Now Speck is continuing with the protection of all things Mac by coming out with a hard shell case called the "SeeThru" for the new white MacBook Unibody.*

Speck makes cases for a wide variety of products, so besides protecting your MacBook you can also protect your iPhone, Kindle or even your Windows Laptopsuch as iPhones, PC Notebooks and Kindles, as well as a few backpacks. For the new white MacBook Unibody, they make two different types of covers: a see through hard shell and what they call a "Satin SeeThru" hard shell. The difference is in the material on the outside of the case. The Satin SeeThru has a "smooth, semi-translucent, frosted finish with a grippy edge" and obviously the regular SeeThru case does not. Both offer the same level of protection however.**

The Speck SeeThru case I was sent came neatly packaged, and besides the bottom and top two-piece cover, it also included a handy cleaning cloth so you can make sure your MacBook is clean before you install the case. Trust me, you will want to do this if you are anything at all like me, otherwise those pieces of dust and dirt (or specks if you prefer) that get stuck between the case and your MacBook will drive you crazy. The covers each have clips placed strategically along the outside edge, eight for the top piece and four on the bottom. The bottom only needs the two in the back corner and the two on the side as the front edges curve in to hold it in place. The bottom piece also has 4 rubberized feet to keep your MacBook from sliding around once you have the case installed. Speaking of installation, it is very simple. Keep your MacBook closed, place it in the bottom half of the case and snap into place. Then place the top half of the case on top of your MacBook and snap on the corners. Removal is a bit trickier but still pretty simple as all you have to do is gently pull the tabs away from the MacBook slightly and lift. I found the fit of this case to be perfect, and while it does add a bit of bulk to your MacBook, the tradeoff in protection is worth it in my opinion.*

This is a simple yet effective way to protect your computer, or any of the other items their cases protect. This is especially true if you move your laptop between home and work, or you do any kind of traveling with it. I have read some concerns about heat buildup, but I haven't experienced that myself, with this one or the older one I have on my MacBook Pro. Yes, I still have the Speck case on my MacBook Pro after almost two years, so they are durable. It is also a great way to add some decoration to your MacBook via stickers or other items without actually attaching them to your MacBook, or other device.*

The Speck SeeThru comes in three colors: pink, red and clear and is available now.*
