Default Album size limit.

I ripped an audiobook to mp3 for my wife to listen to on her 2-year-old refurb brown Zune (best $99 spent ever). The audiobook contained a total of 196 tracks. When I imported the album into the Zune software only 161 tracks showed up. As I went down the list of tracks I saw that some were missing. I manually added them but the total stayed at 161 tracks. Re-reading the track list I see that the software lost some of the tracks that were there before so that it could add the ones that I added manually.
Is there any reason that Microsoft has put this soft limit of 161 tracks on a CD? I know that I ripped eleven discs to one album and I could have done it differently, but it still doesn't make sense to me. I know that audio CDs have a 99 track limit so why has Microsoft decided to set this weird 161 track limit?
