Default Engadget Reviews Jabra STONE Bluetooth Headset

http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/23/...headset-review/

"Finally, the teaser's over. The latest delivery to Engadget's UK penthouse is the Jabra STONE Bluetooth headset due out in the US on 8th November, and we took no time to extract the pebble from the transparent cylinder. In front of us are the two parts of the STONE: an earpiece of a breakthrough form factor that instantly makes you pity its rivals, and behind it is the accompanying portable charging base which serves as an external battery."

The STONE certainly looks impressive from an aesthetic standpoint, however I'd be more inclined to care about how it works functionally. Engadget has a full gallery of photos and their thoughts, for those of you looking to grab a new headset in the near future!

The review indicates that the "Stone" works about as well as its namesake.

Also, while they don't point this out as a specific issue: the fact that the headset requires the portable charging base (which in turn is charged with a mini-USB) means that you have to carry both when you travel. I would prefer something that has a USB charging port directly on it.

This thing looks cool, but Jabra seems to have forgotten that it also has to function well too.

It's unfortunate that a headset that looks so good is so awful. 2-hours of battery life is obsurd on top of the awful noise cancellation. @daS I think the dock station is an awesome idea and well designed so I have to disagree with you there. The headset can charge while in your pocket or laying on a desk for easy pick up and go whether it's fully caharged or not. The way things are going now with convereged devices that do everything and smaller and smaller batteries it's almost a necessity to carry a charging cable with you. Sad but true.

This design and idea is good but just implemented poorly IMO. Hopefully Jabra will improve on it in a future version. They should really take a play from BlueAnt's playbook and make the headset software upgradeable.
