Default The Windows Logo Button = Staples "Easy" Button?

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/06/t...6soft.html?_r=2

"When Microsoft decided to revive its ailing cellphone software business, it turned to the marketer who came up with the Staples "Easy Button," which speaks the tagline "That was easy" when pushed. Starting Tuesday, Microsoft is introducing a new version of its cellphone operating system, Windows Mobile 6.5, with a barrage of television ads. The star, again, is a button. Not a big red one, but a tiny one on a cellphone, sporting the Windows flag logo."

This article on the New York Times site talks about Microsoft's change in leadership on the Windows Mobile team. Is it too early to judge how well the new leadership is doing? It's hard to say - Todd Peters, the one-time Staples executive who's now the Corporate VP for Mobile Communication Marketing - has been on the Windows Mobile team for a year and a half...certainly long enough to have some impact on Windows Mobile 6.5. However, maybe he's "just" a marketing guy and not the person making the calls on how the operating system is working. Regardless, Peters has his work cut out for him - Windows Mobile 6.5 isn't exactly getting the a warm reception...(more on that later).

Sadly all the negative press is probably the best thing that could happen to WM as maybe it will get MS off their butts and moving on real improvements. If it doesnt, we would be best served by finding another mobile OS to meet our requirements because MS would have proved that they do not deserve to be in the mobile space.
