HTC Touch HD Makes an Early Appearance
X1 and Omnia? Uh... never heard of 'em. What you see on-screen is an HTC Touch HD sized the same as an iPhone 3G, but with so much more: a 480 x 800 (WVGA) touch screen, a Qualcomm 7201A 528MHz CPU, 288MB RAM, 512MB ROM, HSDPA connectivity, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 5.0-megapixel camera (sans flash, unfortunately), a microSD slot, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional. Word on the street is it'll be here before Christmas. Jump the break for an extra shot. Hit MoDaCo for the rest.

This is nice indeed! I really hope this has a tri-band 3G radio. I used to appreciate having that on the older HTC models and took it for granted, but the newer ones are either US or Asia/Euro 3G only. Would be nice to have support for both regions again...

Nice looking and good specs, though i think the buttons are placed a bit too low on the device. Omnia still for me though due to the onboard storage. Internet and movies will look fabulous on this though.

Mmm...love that screen resolution! And with a microSD slot, you can slap an 8 GB card in there and have a great movie watching device. Nice!
EDIT: Oh my goodness...a 3.5mm headphone jack!! HTC remembers what those are!!!

It doesn't quite kick the iPhone's or any other phone's anything - yet. We still need the full "official" specs before you really know anything.
The processor is actually slower than the one in the iPhone or the HTC Advantage - so hold off on judgements. There's a lot of factors that play into how fast a device really feels and we don't know what we don't know yet.
I do hope, however, that the RAM specs turn out to be true because that would be one things that could definitely help turn this into an excellent WM choice.
I'm looking forward to more details!

This is one sweet device.
It's funny, a month ago I was pretty sure I'll be getting the Diamond for my next phone and when I actually played with it I was certain...
But then the first Pro reviews started to show and I wasn't sure anymore...
Now with the Touch HD I don't know what to do - I guess I'll have to wait for the official specs and release date before making any decisions...

Ouch. I had reconciled myself to getting the Touch Pro when it's released shortly as the AT&T "Fuze," but I'd really rather have the HD. I'm perfectly happy with an on-screen keyboard (I write faster with fewer errors with SpeedScript than with the hardware keyboard on my Cingular 8525), so this would be great. Of course, the timing here means that I'd probably have to wait another six months before finding out whether AT&T would pick this up or not (and the answer will probably be "not," so as not to cannibalize the iPhone sales), so I'd end up with the Touch Pro anyway... I guess I'll probably go ahead with the Fuze, but if AT&T does by some chance offer the HD subsidized, I'm going to have quite a bruise from kicking myself...

If only it had a keyboard. Where is the touch HD Pro?
This has come closer to challenging my xperia lust. It still lacks a keyboard and flash but it looks great. I also don't like the omission of a dpad. Hardware buttons are a good thing to me. Looks like it is still xperia for me..

So, what would be the actual screen size? In inches I mean...
