Default Photoshop.com Going Mobile in September

<div class='os_post_top_link'><a href='http://www.adobe.com/products/pscom/mobile/' target='_blank'>http://www.adobe.com/products/pscom/mobile/</a><br /><br /></div><p><em>"Adobe&reg; Photoshop.com Mobile is the easiest way to upload, view, and share your photos online from your phone. All you need is a supported Windows Mobile phone and your Photoshop.com account ID. Photoshop.com Mobile beta will be available as a free download in September."</em></p><p><img src="http://images.thoughtsmedia.com/resizer/thumbs/size/600/spt/auto/1219840174.usr2.jpg" border="0" /></p><p>Adobe claims that <a href="http://www.adobe.com/products/pscom/mobile/" target="_blank">Photoshop.com Mobile</a> will only support the MOTO Q, Blackjack, and Treo 700/750 series, although we're willing to bet most other Windows Mobile devices will handle it just fine as long as Flash is installed. At any rate, we'll let you know the moment it's available.</p>

Well hot damn, that's pretty interesting! I wonder how the performance will be? The last time we saw a mainstream developer try to create a photo app, ACD Systems, we had an expensive, sluggish program that didn't do much. It looks more like a viewer than anything else though - I don't see any features listed other than upload and view.

Their website says "...or invite friends and family to view your photos online from Photoshop.com". It would be nice if you could send someone an email with links to one or more of the selected photos from your WM device, maybe even compose one for you which includes a thumbnail for each link. Better yet, it would be a nice feature to be able to upload your photo instantly from your camera when the picture is snapped (using the Photoshop website as a storage option from your camera).

I wonder if you need a licensed copy of Photoshop to be able to register a Photoshop.com account.

Photoshop.com is a subscription-based service, so even with Photoshop I think you'll need to pay a fee. There's a free version though with 5 GB of space...

I guess I could see this if you spend half your life showing people photos on your smartphone, you want to choose from thousands of photos to show them, and consider this external storage so you don't have to put them on your flash card. Does anyone really do that?

I carry photos on my phone... in 320x240 resolution. I also share files via the Internet with family and friends... in 1920x1280 resolution. I no more want to carry huge files around on my phone than I want to show people tiny files on their computers from the Net. Sorry, I just don't get it.
