AT&T Making Samsung i788 The BlackJack 3?
"Throw this one in your "hopes and dreams" stack friends, but the web's buzzing with rumors of the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional-powered Samsung i788 as AT&T's BlackJack 3. This new and freshly rumored device apparently will pack the 3G frequencies that the Samsung i780 doesn't have, stylus, optical touchpad, WiFi, HSDPA, GPS, and almost certainly be devoid of any type of forward-facing camera. Of course, all this is guesswork, and features could disappear -- bye bye, WiFi, GPS? -- or be added if and when it comes to market."
I'm not a huge fan of the BlackJack series, but that doesn't mean others aren't psyched to see the line continue (Sorta like the Treo line was before Palm decided they wanted to make theirs look more like the BlackJack line...). Anyway, the stats look pretty nice and I really like the addition of the touch screen. Having a BlackJack 3 out so soon after the release of the BlackJack 2 (Just under a year maybe), would be pretty sweet. Anyone drooling out there?

As a user of the i780 (the parallel for Europe), I have to say that this is the best device I have ever used.
It is slim and small, the touch screen works beautifully with the fingers, and Spb Mobile Shell makes a great job there. The CPU and OS are perfectly adapted to the rest of the device, so it is faster than any device I had in the past (at least since WM5 has been introduced, I can't remember older ones), and reliable like a rock. I just soft-reset once a week when Sprite Backup does its job.
The 256/128 memory leaves a lot of place to work. A-GPS gets the fix instantly. The camera is quite good even in closed rooms with good lights.
The only flaw in the device is that when Samsung introduced the touchpad on this device, they removed the arrow keys. In most cases it doesn't bother me, but once or twice I wanted to edit a field in which I wrote more text than the field window could show and found it difficult to get to the end of the text.
In general: a thrilling device.

The i780 has replaced the i600 for quite a few months now, and it is one of the cheapest WM Pro phones out here (slightly less than US$500 unlocked).
I'm a little dismayed at the move to WM Pro (I think as a phone WM Standard is much nicer), and also the loss of the scroll wheel and side back button).
Helio, there's no way to get some kind of D-pad movement in at all?
