Default FlexMail 4 Released

http://webis.net/products_info.php?p_id=mail

"FlexMail 4 is a full-featured award-winning (2004/2005/2006/2007) Email application that works with your device's built-in Messaging client to provide the best Exchange and IMAP connectivity available on Windows Mobile! Use FlexMail to improve your ActiveSync or SMS messaging with our multiple signature support, multiple folder searches, and cross-account email copies and moves. Use FlexMail to connect with the best IMAP feature-set on Windows Mobile with easy to configure yet powerful folder settings. Set each folder to download differently, notify of new messages, and get email using PUSH use IMAP IDLE."

Oops, it seems last week's FlexMail 4 press release never made it into our inbox, so we missed giving you the scoop. But as they say, better late than never.

There are a lot of new features to enjoy in this release, including a revision to IMAP support, MMS support, a redesign of the accounts and application settings, a redesign of the single-page view, new notification settings, and an Asian language encoding plug-in. There's more, of course, but we'd run out of space. If you own a previous version, you're eligible for a free or discounted upgrade, depending on when you purchased it. Otherwise, head over to our affiliate software store (Classic/Professional [Pocket PC] and Standard [Smartphone]) to try or buy.

Default Flexmail is a virus

This virus takes over your pda, slows it down, breaks a bunch of functions, and is only completely removable by a hard reset. Support staff at webis are rude and unhelpful. Install at your own risk.

Dont get me wrong, PI is a great program and works flawlessly (which is a godsend since I dont have to deal with their rude and inefficient support staff)... but THIS product is horrible!

You don't happen to have tried it on an Hp iPAQ 200 series do you?
It works flawlessly on my HTC P3600 but does not work on my iPAQ 214 which is acknowledged by the developer. As for their support staff, I haven't had to use them for a while now so can't comment. But I do know Alex Kac is one of the good guys in Windows Mobile software so I would be surprised if the support did not reflect that.

I'll second what Cirrob121 said. I purchased Flexmail for my HTC/Cingular 8525 and could not get it to function. I sent an e-mail to webis requesting assistance, including all pertinent details. Their first response asked numerous questions that I had answered in my original request. They responded with a suggestion which I tried to no avail. Responding to that, with the original text of their suggestion, including the name of the tech, I got an answer saying that they needed all the detail from my initial request as another tech was answering. Complied with the request and got a reply from yet a third tech telling me he had no idea what I was talking about and "It would help matters if you do your part in this process by providing detailed information." I suggested that they do their part by keeping track of service requests with details of what previous techs had said or suggested. I got a rather curt e-mail from a fourth person telling me that they had over 7000 customers and there was no way they could keep track of that sort of thing. Strange, other much larger companies are able to do that quite simply. End result: I uninstalled Flexmail and Pocket Informant and will not use their products for anything.

I completely agree. This is a horrible program.
I purchased it years ago only do discover all of its unbelievable problems.. How could a developer release a product with such flaws? The biggest one for me was the fact that even when you delete mail it isn't actually removed from their mail database.. Which means the data file will AWAYS get bigger and NEVER get smaller. Also the fact that it didn't work with my company IMAP server and i was told that my company needed to reconfigurer our mail server..... Umm.. the default Windows Mobile Messaging app works, what could be wrong with our server?

Anyway.. I will download it a try it every few releases just to discover basically the same thing. It has some nice "desktop" features but using this program is not worth putting up with its shortcomings.

It works flawlessly on my iPaq 211. As did the previous version. This version downloads my email much faster. I've been using it for a week and have had no problems. I sent and received with multiple attachments.

Have an earlier version of FlexMail loaded on my Axim, and have used it with mixed - but mostly OK - results, although primary reason for loading was Earthlink's "refusal" to send messages via Pocket IE (Could READ e-mail from Axim, but not Reply).
Was able to send a handful of messages via FlexMail, but ultimately gave up on Earthlink in favor of GMAIL, which works Just Fine with Axim / PIE - and thus have not used FlexMail for some months.

But also made decision that did NOT want a bunch of E-mail clogging up my pda: if it is Really Important, will copy data / contents to PI (Appointments / Contact Info) or PhatNotes (to retain portable copy of Text Content) - but even those tasks are USUALLY done from desktop computer: Fitaly is Great, but still does not replace a desktop keyboard!

Always figured it was simply BECAUSE it was PIE that was being used ....

Earthlink used to present a warning at each log in (from Axim) - something along the lines of "your browser may not be supported."
Gee, they were Half Right! (Read msgs, but not Send...)

Recall seeing a Registry Hack mentioned somewhere that was designed to make websites think you were using a "full" version of IE instead of PIE, but never got around to trying it out: FlexMail provided a temp work-around, and changing to GMAIL has made the problem go away....
