Default Four New E-TEN Glofiish Devices Showcased at Computex

"E-TEN has been awarded the Best Choice of Computex Award 2008 for its innovative new Glofiish DX900 – the first dual-SIM Windows Mobile handset to support HSDPA and EDGE. The DX900 is being showcased at the E-TEN booth along with three more industry-leading Pocket PC Phones - the Glofiish V900 the first to support mobile TV, the Glofiish X900 for consumers who demand the best, and the great value Glofiish X610."

E-TEN and Acer may soon be one, but that's certainly not stopping the former from hitting us with a string of new devices. First on the list is the DX900 (pictured above), which we reported on a few weeks ago. This dual-SIM, HSDPA/EDGE device sports GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a VGA touch screen, and a 3-megapixel auto-focus camera, and has already picked up a Best Choice of Computex award. Next, there's the V900, which should be no stranger to you. It too boasts a VGA touch screen, but also packs DVB-T/H and T-DMB/DAB support. Finally, there's the X610 and X900, which appear to be successors to the existing X600 and X800 models. More details and eye-candy after the break.

"E-TEN Information Systems has kicked off Computex 2008, the world's second largest computer expo, with the launch of four new Pocket PC Phones and in the process earned itself a prestigious Best Choice of Computex Award. The new handsets and the company's complete lineup of industry defining Glofiish Pocket PC Phones will be on show at the E-TEN booth between June 3 - 7.

E-TEN was awarded the Best Choice of Computex accolade for its new Glofiish DX900 – the world's first dual-SIM & dual standby Windows Mobile handset to support HSDPA and EDGE. The DX900 is a simple solution to an increasingly in-demand requirement for consumers who need access to two mobile communications services, but don't want to carry around two devices at the same time. The DX900 allows users to have uninterrupted access to two separate phone services, for example one for business and one personal, or one for calls and another for data, in a single device. Frequent business travelers can use local SIM card and home SIM card in the same device.

The Glofiish DX900 features support for both high-speed 3.5G (UMTS/HSDPA) and 2G (GSM/EDGE) communications, as well as GPS and Wi-Fi connectivity, a high-resolution VGA display, and a 3-megapixel auto-focus camera.

The Glofiish V900 marks the premier of mobile digital TV to E-TEN's Pocket PC lineup, allowing users to keep up-to-date with the latest news, TV shows and sports, even when on the move. The V900 boasts an ultra-sharp VGA display and supports multiple standards including DVB-T/H and T-DMB/DAB meaning the thrill of over-the-air TV can be enjoyed almost anywhere around the world.

For consumers who demand the best mobile experience, the Glofiish X900 delivers blisteringly-fast UMTS/HSDPA connectivity ideal for high-speed web-browsing, video streaming, and VoIP calls, and allows documents, web-pages, pictures and video to be enjoyed on its clear VGA display.

Finally, the Glofiish X610 offers both value and functionally in a sleek handset that's perfect for GPS navigation and everyday communications.

In addition to industry-leading hardware innovations and the latest Windows Mobile 6.1 platform, all the new handsets feature a new touch interface that revolutionizes the way users interact with their Glofiish phones though gestures, finger-friendly icons and 3D animations.

Computex attendees are welcomed to come and visit the E-TEN booth to get hands on with the Glofiish DX900, V900, X900 and X610 as well as the company's complete lineup of Glofiish Pocket PC Phones designed for business users and consumers on the move."

Any word on the remaining specs? I'm curious to hear if Eten figured out how to fit more than 64 MB RAM into one of these. The RAM limit was a significant factor in my decision NOT to try one of the recent VGA models. Will these support any of the US GSM/HSPA bands?

This is killing me. All these supposed new devices, yet I can't seem to get my hands on one.

My Axim x50v finally just died. I want to replace it with a VGA converged device, but here in the US, I can't walking into a store and pick one up. I am left without a PDA for the first time in 8 years and I am lost without it, but I don't want to just settle for whatever happens to be available. No way I can go back to QVGA.

Its absolutely amazing that after all these years I still can't walk into a Sprint or AT&T store and walk out with something I want to use. Amazing!

Not yet. To my understanding, some of the minor specs are still being finalised. But I'll check with them and drop an update here a little later.

Yes, they should do. E-TEN's 3.5G devices typically feature quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and tri-band HSDPA support.

Heh, okay. That didn't take long.

The X610 is an entry-level device. It packs similar specs to the X600: Samsung S3C2442 400MHz processor, 64MB RAM, 128MB ROM, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (note, no 3G), GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 2.0-megapixel camera, a microSD slot, and a 2.8" QVGA touch screen.

The other three are more impressive: Samsung S3C6400 533MHz processor, 128MB RAM, 256MB ROM, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, tri-band UMTS/HSDPA, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 3.0-megapixel camera, a microSD slot, and a 2.8" VGA touch screen. As mentioned earlier, the V900 supports DVB-T/H, and T-DMB/DAB. The DX900 supports dual SIMs.

All four run Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.
