WILLCOM's Colourful 03 On Display
Vibrant colours are a rarity in the Windows Mobile world. If you're lucky, you may find some multi-coloured HTC Touch devices on the street, but other than that, our devices are mostly shades of grey. Enter WILLCOM. You've heard of them before. They were the folks who delivered the W-ZERO3. Now, they've combined Windows Mobile with hot pink, lime green, and bright gold to deliver the 03. And the specs aren't too shabby. There's a 3" 800 x 480 touchscreen, a touch-sensitive pad that switches between numeric keypad mode and D-pad mode, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a PXA270 processor, 128MB RAM, 256MB of ROM, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, infrared, a 2.0-megapixel camera, a TV tuner, and a microSD slot, with Windows Mobile 6.1 Classic to keep it all going. Wait, "Classic"? What's the catch? The 03 takes a W-SIM, which means it doesn't have to rely on the cellular radio support offered in "Professional". Oh, and W-SIM also means you won't be seeing it outside of Japan anytime soon. Ah, shucks.
Head over to Akihabara News for more eye-candy.

Heard of SE Xperia X1? Coming soon.
Heard of Toshiba G910? It is available now.
Toshiba G900? Available for a full year.
800x480 is not new.

I have to disagree with this statement - 640 x 480 on a 2.8" screen is amazingly crisp and sharp, but everything is also quite small. I frankly wouldn't want 800 x 480 on a 3" screen unless the OS was really designed for that type of resolution...and Windows Mobile is not, it's still designed optimally for 320 x 240. The Diamond has some impressive hardware, and it's very small and thin, so I think HTC is doing quite well as a leader and not a follower.
