Default Battle of the Touches: HTC Touch Diamond vs. iPhone

http://chinese.engadget.com/2008/05...s-apple-iphone/

"Our brethren over at Engadget Chinese had the chance to size-up HTC's new Windows Mobile 6.1 Touch Diamond with Apple's iPhone this morning in Taiwan. We have to admit, HTC's CEO was dead-on when he claimed that the Diamond's "not too big, not too small" after seeing it side-by-side with Microsoft's left-coast nemesis."

You've all seen the Touch Diamond (which, by the way, has now received the FCC's tick of approval) in renderings. Now, see it in the flesh. Here it is next to the iPhone. The Touch Diamond is quite a bit smaller, although fortunately, not too small that you can't hold it without losing it. How will it compare with the next-generation iPhone? I guess we'll find out in the weeks ahead.

I think for a lot of people having no expansion slot and 900 mAh is a non-starter. I might as well pick up the next gen. Iphone, which gives me 8-16Gb. Does anyone know when HTC will officially announce HTC Rafael and if it will have the memory slot?

Default HTC Touch Diamong - limited connectivity

The biggest problem for HTC Touch Diamong is its limited connectivity. With the current dual-band UMTS 900/2100mHz, Australia users would not be able to access the Telstra NextG network which has the largest coverage. It would switch off all the rural users and those who need mobile data.

With Touch Dual, HTC has released a Touch Dual 850 with an additional support for 850MHz. If HTC is not going to do the same with Touch Diamond, the customer base will be subtentially reduced.

Also due to its limited connectivity, Touch Diamond is also not suitable for people travel overseas.

My conclusion is: Touch Diamond is nice to look at, but may not be suitable to use if one requires reliable connectivity.

Default Raphael Slot

Phonearena.com describes the Raphael as having a microSD slot.
