Default Pocket Informant 8!

http://webis.net/products_info.php?...pocketinformant

"Pocket Informant is The Next Generation in Personal Daily Management, but we don't just say that; we mean it. Pocket Informant 8 doesn't just simply let you work with your daily events through lists and grids, but with the new Events and Journal views you can look at your life's past and future in an easy cohesive environment. Even create contact links within your appointment or tasks' subject and notes let you quickly access a named contact without having to resort to links or a search."

One of the best PIM replacement applications just got an upgrade! PI8, which replaces and enhances your onboard Pocket Outlook applications, comes with so many new and improved features, that I can't even begin to list them all. PI8 retails for $29.95, and is a free upgrade for registered owners of PI2007 who purchased after September 1st, 2007. The free upgrade offer however does not apply to those who got a copy through Handango's Free App Friday giveaway, or the recent Mobihand Two Day Free Giveaway. For those guys, and for whoever has a previous copy of PI purchased before Sept 1st 2007, you are entitled to an upgrade price of just $16.95. Note that localisation packs will only be available for PI 8.01, which should be available in a couple of weeks.

Heh!

Pretty sneaky of them... they give away PI7 a few times on several PDA boards right before the release of 8, so they can get people to pay for the upgrade that previously might not have even used it.

That was a great marketing ploy...
Guess they are getting my money afterall

They've got a right to make a living....
Since 2001'ish I've owned PI 2.xx and upgraded 3 times, most recently to 2007.
No regrets.

Seems like sound business sense - and besides - people aren't forced to upgrade - so it is still a free gift. For those who do decide to upgrade - they still get PI8 a lot cheaper than if they hadn't bought the freebie.

Default Additional Discount Through Handango Store via Coupon Code

See the coupon codes at RetailMeNot.com. I was able to use the coupon code NEWYEAR08 to save an additonal 20% on my upgrade. (Brought the upgrade price down from $16.95 to $13.56). Hope this helps!

I didn't intend to come across as complaining... I just think it is very clever marketing.

I took advantage of the free version 7 and installed on my Sprint Treo 700WX.

Have any of you noticed the new version to be less clutered on the Treo dinky screen?

Thanks Dan

The giveaway was still a neat idea. After all, you have an infinite demo of a somewhat older version of the product (PI 2007) and a cheaper purchase price of 8 when you decide to go for that. Seems kinda nifty to me.

One thing that I don't like about Pocket Informant is that the Pocket PC version doesn't allow me to select and initiate a telephone call. That is if a phone number is embedded in the appointment, I'm not able to tap on the phone number and have the PDA phone dial the number.

This is enabled using the standard Windows Mobile Calendar on my HTC Touch, but, not in PI. Even my old AudioVox SMT5600 Smartphone running Papyrus supported that.
