Default WorldMate for Windows Mobile Released - And The Price Is Free!

http://www.mobimate.com/ppc_business.shtml

"WorldMate travel software for Windows Mobile provides you with critical travel information when you need it the most. Get WorldMate for Windows Mobile free of charge."

Whenever travelling, one always needs to keep track of multiple pieces of the puzzle. Flight times, weather, which items did I bring and how do I not forget them, etc.. And then there's the little things: How much do I tip in this country? Those are nice shoes, but what is my size in Japan? and more. Thankfully this little application released by Mobimate has many of the answers, at a great price: Free!

This software spent a total of about 20 minutes on my phone, then I dismissed it to the ether.

It reminds you at every turn that it is a crippled piece of software and begs for you to upgrade to the "pro" version. The worst part is that now that I have uninstalled it, it is popping up dialogs twice a day (when it was supposed to be updating the weather, I think) to let me know that my 8525 can't find the exe needed to perform the task.

I can't find the anything in the registry or file structure to delete. If I have to do a hard reset to fix things, Mobimate will be on my short list of PPC software vendors to absolutely avoid!

I had this installed on my phone in the past and I hated it.

functionally it's great. But it's damn slow and for some reason it takes ages for windows to read the icon file when I browse it in the program menu.. very annoying. Also, it's impossible to use with your finger.

With the exception of the weather, those items are not in the free version. No flight times, no packing list.

You do get currency conversion, measurement and clothing size conversion, along with weather (no satellite imagery) and a world clock. There's some usefulness there, just not as much as advertised in the free version, and it runs fine on my HTC Advantage.

Default Wrong airline codes?

I'm still struggling along with Trip Tracker v3.9 until something with a decent itinary manager comes along.

Downloaded this app, installs fine on hx4700, but:

* doesn't support vga hack software very well (ozvga in my case)
* when I tried to enter the flights for my christmas travel, it brought up MU as the airline code for British Airways (supposed to be BA).
* constant nagging of 'Please pay us money.' Either release a stripped down version and don't charge a subscription fee, or make it a trial download of the subscription service. This hack job is just annoying.

Start->Settings->Remove Programs.

I should not have installed it, I kept getting error messages and had a hell of a time uninstalling it.

I couldn't agree more with the above statement.

MobiMate should be commended for revaluating their pricing structure, but it sounds like the free app is nagware.

Before this version I tried the pro subscription out it out and found these problems with it:

-Kept adding flights to Outlook calendar.....no way to stop that.
-Location of hotels displays street address instead of city.
-Itinaries can not be sorted by departure date.

All of those were ridiculous issues, and worse, MobiMate didn't seem to care when I reported them. I was going to try out this new free version specifically for the itinary manager, but not after all the problems others have been having with it (especially uninstalling).

Hopefully Iambic will get the new version of Trip Tracker finished soon (although its been a year or two that they've been working on it).

Default What Am I Missing?

Well, perhaps my "old-timers" is at it again but what is new about this. I originally purchased this program probably 5 or 6 years ago for my Dell Axim X5. I also ran it on my PDA2k, TyTN and HP iPaqs. When I first bought the program there was only one version, then they changed to a Standard Edition and Premium Edition. Finally, they replaced the Premium Edition with the Professional Edition. So again, I repeat, what is new with "WorldMate for PPC"?

I must admit, I initially thought that perhaps the Standard Edition is somewhat of an upgrade to what I have been using so I did try to download it directly to my HTC Touch. No dice...same error message as above. So, I then downloaded it to my PC but I'm glad that I read this thread before installing. DELETE, DELETE, DELETE!

Default Worldmate Pro

Hi, just installed the latest Pro version. I can not figure out how to make Somerset, NJ as my home city and display the weather/time on the home plug-in. I have NYC or Newark, NJ as options in the city list. Weired enough, I get to choose Somerset, NJ on the world weather but not as my home city. Anyone saw any workaround/tricks. Thanks.
