Default Another Mac Sync App -- And This One's Free

http://www.eltima.com/products/syncmate/

"From now on, synchronizing your Mac with Pocket PC is as easy as one, two, three. Still hesitate? Sync again... Get your Mac a mate with Eltima SyncMate. SyncMate by Eltima Software is an easy-to-use handy synchronizer that will help you keep all your private notes, docs, contacts and other files organized. Form a quick connection between your Mac and your Pocket PC. SyncMate allows you to make synchronization via USB cable with such applications as Bookmarks, Address Book, Stickies, iCal, iTunes, iPhoto and others. With SyncMate you are able to receive, read and manage your text messages, read your device status, install applications to your mobile device, synchronize time and follow all file exchanges using operation log."

And here's the kicker: it's free. Not sure if that'll last after the current beta, and I haven't used the product, so I can't tell you how good it is. However, for those of you who've been holding off Mac syncing due to the cost of other solutions may want to check it out (and ensure you back up your data first, as always ).

Wonder what will happen if I'm already syncing with a PC. Guess I"ll try on something I don't use much. I'd hate to mess up my PC syncing. At least that works. I've not tried to sync with my Mac for that reason.

Edit: wouldn't download correctly. Codec overrun, whatever that is. I'll google that and try again later. If anybody can get this to work, please post

Second Edit: verification fails. It isn't working at all. Too bad.

It may be free - but that seems to reflect what it's worth at the moment!

Downloaded/installed fine to my 10.4 Mac but won't do anything useful with either an HTC 710 or a TyTn (original not II and still on WM5). I could try my Tosh g900 but am not sure I can be bothered!

When I plug a device into the USB cable the software obviously "half works" as it fires itself up. I then get several "unknown publisher" messages on the device and then....

nothing!

The help file (helpfully) says "SyncMate will automatically establish a connection..." - not for me it didn't!

So - what about the FAQ's? Well these tell me to check my device is connected to my PC and not switched off.

I installed this thing, found it didn't work, then deleted it. But then I noticed that my console log is filling up with messages from Eltima SyncMate. Every 10 seconds, another error message. It took me ages to hunt down and eliminate the offending bits.

This thing is not ready for use by the public.

Hello, guys!

Are you sure you're using the latest build?

The discussion of all things SyncMate goes on here - http://blog.eltima.com/2008/01/sync-...-syncmate.html and you can download the latest build there, too.

If you are experiencing any problems with our software, please, contact me right away [email protected]
