TrustedReviews Takes a Look At the Glofiish M800
"HTC has ploughed its own furrow in the world of smartphones over the past year or so. While most other manufacturers have managed to produce one, two or possibly three new models, the Taiwanese manufacturer has hit us with a succession of new devices, one hot on the heels of the last. Compatriot E-TEN looks as if it wants to follow in HTC's footsteps, and the new M800 is a direct attempt to steal some of its rival's thunder. It is, essentially, E-TEN's take on the hugely successful - at least in terms of press reaction - HTC TyTN II, aka Orange HTC TyTN II, HTC P4550/Kaiser, and T-Mobile MDA Vario III. It's roughly the same size, give or take a few millimetres, has a sliding QWERTY keyboard under the screen, and it's based on Windows Mobile 6 Professional. But is the M800 a quality cover version, full of novel interpretation, or a rotten tomato, sprinkled liberally with karaoke-night bum notes?"
TrustedReviews has put E-TEN's most feature-packed Windows Mobile device under the spotlight. According to the reviewer, there's a lot to like about the M800, but it does have its design flaws. Check out the review for more.

I am glad that the reviewer has rated the M800 rather lowly.
As far as I am concerned I was not willing to give this even a second thought after learning that it had only 64MB of RAM. I already suffered problems with low RAM on the HTC Touch and now have a taste of how 128MB feels like after using the TyTn II for a few weeks now. RAM is the first piece of spec I check on any newly announced device.

I agree that more RAM is better, but in my experience, I didn't feel much performance improvement from Tilt compared to Sprint Mogul which has 64MB RAM. Maybe it's my usage pattern since I rarely run multiple larger sized programs at the same time, but I was a bit disappointed at the Tilt's performance not because it's slow, but 64 more RAM didn't bring the level of performance improvement I had expected.
By the way, the review reads like the first impression type article and the reviewer doesn't seem to have spent enough time on either device to do a comparative review.

people always find something to complaing about! isnt all pdaPhone having 64meg ram for the last 10 years?
i dont hear people complaing about only 64meg ram on Dell x50v, Samsung i730, HTC ppc6600, or HTC tytn/8525 which i have used!
i using Eten x800 VGA now and i dont feel it any slower then those devices!

Things change with WM6. I had no problem with 64mb on my 6700. I can't wait to be rid of my mogul. It is borderline unusable for a power user. 64mb may be enough for some, but those who demand much from their pda need more.

No? 'Cause I heard plenty in 2004-5. There's a whole industry (Pocket PC Techs et al) around upgrading PDAs from 64 MB to 128 MB RAM. And the Dell is just a stand-alone PDA. Phones eat up even more of the available RAM.
