Trouble in iPaqland
"If you were waiting patiently for HP's iPAQ 110 and 210 models that were due for release earlier this month, you may already know that you're out of luck. jkOnTheRun pieced together a few reader reports and discovered that HP's official site for the 210 now features the text "Coming in 2008!" That's a shame, since the last we heard these two PDAs should have been shipping by the 8th of this month. Anyone else had their order canceled? If so, HP's got some 'splainin' to do."
If you've been following the 210 forum thread, you'll know that some of our members have had their orders canceled with no real information on a new shipping date, except for a vague reference to end-February 2008. Apparently this applies not only to the 210 but possibly also the rest of the new iPaq lineup, which is pretty disappointing (to put it mildly) especially for us fans of the non-connected PDA. My personal guess is since HP are not using HTC as the ODM, whoever they have lined up as manufacturer either hasn't quite gotten all the bugs out in the assembly process, or is having trouble getting parts. With both flash memory and ARM processors much in demand at the moment (think: iPhone and iPod Touch, among others), and the relative rarity of 4" VGA screens, I'm thinking it's quite possibly both. Updates as we get them.
Update: Engadget (via Brighthand) are reporting that the 210 is definitely delayed due to "supply issues". The 110 is still on track for release next month, and has in fact started shipping, so presumably the rest of the lineup will meet their target release dates.

What about the 600 and 900 series Pocket PC Phones. Are those delayed too?? I am eagerly waiting for the 600.
Don't you think this is becoming a fashion in the PPC industry to announce devices and then not deliver. I-Mate is another example.

It's certainly confusing and could do with some clarification from Hp.
I had a 214 on order from Expansys but cancelled it at the weekend when the UK Hp store changed from "arriving soon" to "available direct". They took my order and confirmed by email arriving at the warehouse by 31/10/07 and to me 1-2 business days after that.
Now, Hp USA have it "arriving 2008" but the UK store still says available. Some people have had a phone call or email cancelling their orders but these seem to be US customers, the ones I have seen comment from the UK still seem to have an active order.
Hmmmm :?

Unfortunately, this is not really new behavior from HP and it's the main reason why I won't even bother looking at their new stuff after the way they handled things last time. My advise, look elsewhere.

I am dissapointed as 210 was definitely on my wish list as I was planning to abandon my "converged" HTC Mogul and go back to a simple phone (that works) and a VGA PPC with enough power (unlike the coveted Qualcomm MSM chipset) to play movies, read book,, etc.

Well, I haven't been sitting on pins and needles for the 210, but it's definitely the device that will replace my Loox 720 (which still works just fine by the way). It addresses the two issues I had with the 4700 - price and that hokey touchpad. So I'll wait patiently and see what happens. I just hope they don't cancel it!

I've been using the hx4700 for so long that I'm used to the touchpad. I actually use it for scrolling and link-clicking purposes. Although, I never really used the mousepointer-thing with it.
...waiting interestedly to see when the 210 comes out and how it will compare to the hx4700.

HP iPAQ 210 delay
I put in an order on the 8th of this month for the the iPAQ 210 at HP UK. They said the product was delayed and would be shipped at the beginning of November.
I have not decided what to do yet if it is delayed further.
They have already debited my card for the purchase so if I do not cancel and they deliver in 2008 I will ask for a reduction or a free bluetooth keyboard.I do know I have not the faintest chance of getting one.
Regards Brian
