New Devices From Amoi
Reader Carlos stumbled across these devices on PdaDB.net. From left to right we have the N8, the N800, and the N810. They all feature WM6 Pro, 2.8in screens, SirfStar III GPS receivers, 2.0MP cameras, Samsung processors, triband GSM and EDGE (ho-hum), and the usual 64MB RAM and 128MB ROM (double ho-hum). The big differentiator between the three, apart from the keypad layout, is that the N800 features a VGA screen. No word as yet on pricing or availability, though I suspect these will only be available in East Asia.

I just don't understand this hostility to EDGE. Considering that in everyday use, 3G users in the USA (and often abroad) aren't seeing "consistent bandwidth" ove more than 400 kbps (if that, here in the USA it's closer to 300 kbps), and considering that as more carriers are upping their EDGE service anywhere from 130 kbps to 250 kbps, and considering that GSM/EDGE radios still consume less power than the current generation of 3G radios, AND considering that EDGE is the same the world over (which you can't say about the various 3G and 3.5G standards), EDGE gets a bad rap for no realistic reason.
Everyone looks at the theoretical possible bandwidth for 3G and says you can't compare 1.5mpbs to 384kbps (the theoretical limit for EDGE, I believe), but in real world testing, people aren't seeing the theoretical limits. Since ATT/Cingular applied the "fine EDGE" upgrade to their network in the USA, users on hofo are reporting speeds of 200kbps+.
All I'm saying is, don't kick the EDGE devices to the curb just yet.

I agree.
EDGE be getting a little long in the tooth, but it certainly isn't ready to be bumped off just yet!
I'm more concerned about the fact that companies are still building tri-band GSM phones! Why wouldn't you make your phone quad-band so it could be used aound the world?

i know a company that offer dialup for home internet, and it' only 5buk a month! want me to give u the link? haha
no, i paying 42 buk for high speed internet. maybe u can convince me and drop my 42buk high speed and pay 5buk a month for dialup!

All the spec sheets list QVGA for all of these devices :-(
