New iPaqs Given Shape
"You have seen the expected specs of the new HP iPAQ 600 and iPAQ 900 on the::unwired before but now, Smartphone France also posted two renderings of what the iPAQ 600 and iPAQ 900 should look like. In addition, Smartphone France also confirmed the earlier unveiled specs of both devices which will run Windows Mobile 6 Professional (Pocket PC) instead of Standard (Smartphone) and therefore, both devices will have a touch screen."
It appears the foam has been given shape! Although I have to say the design is a little derivative, I love the black livery - makes a change from the largely metallic colours HP has generally given recent iPaqs. The touch sensitive circle on the 600 series (pic on the left) is also really intriguing, even if I'm none too confident how that will work out - at least HP aren't afraid to be a bit innovative. In any case, things are starting to brighten up on the HP front at last!

I've said it before and I'll say it again:
HP is going to have to work long and hard to regain my trust in the iPaq line. They've just played too fast and loose in the past with spotty product development, curious hardware feature choices and bad customer service.
I'll keep an eye on them; but for now-- I. Just. Don't. Trust. Them.

Everybody is so down on HP. I personally like their PDAs. I tend to go through PDAs quickly, but the 4350 I previously used and the 6945 I currently use are two PDAs that were/are able to maintain my interest and have all the features I need. The 6900 series once offered more than any other PDA on the market when it was initially introduced.
As for the new thumboard device, I have to say I am glad iPaq chose a higher res screen (looks like it, at least). I'm not sure why there is so much room below the bottom row of keys. Overall, the device reminds me of the upcoming Jaq4. I'm glad HP dropped the tiny joystick currently on the 6900. Lookin' forward to more info.

I'm ready to give them another chance now, they just need to put out a product that makes me want to part with my hard-earned money.

I don't find either of those even remotely compelling.
For this season, it looks like game, match for HTC.

If HP will put it in writing that users will get at least one FREE OS upgrade then I'll bite. Otherwise I'll never trust them ever again.

Oh my yes - I've just seen some more mockups, and it seems like HP are doing a complete refresh of the iPaq line (and yes, that means the older hx19xx, hx29xx and hx47xx lines too). I'm in love with these guys again. Watch for more news soon - I expect we'll see more news in the next couple of days!

I had T-Mobile HP 6315  Once burned, twice shy. So, when will ETen X800 go on sale?
