Default Engadget Fondles The Advantage

http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007/...dvantage-x7501/

"Take a peek inside the mind of a good many mobile power users and you'll find two diametrically opposed, seemingly contradictory voices locked in an eternal struggle: one demanding as much power, speed, and capability as possible, the other crying out for portability (and heck, maybe even fashion)...Now that we have that mental imagery set up, let us be clear from the outset -- the Advantage X7501 feeds heaping loads of happiness to the power voice while mercilessly beating the portability voice into submission."

While a little late to the party, Engadget Mobile has posted a short review of the x7501, the WM6 version of the Advantage. Of particular interest are the comments regarding using GPS and TeleNav software, though this would obviously only apply to the US version. There's a certain ambivalence to the review, as there is with virtually all reviews of the Advantage - they love the hardware specs, but just can't quite get over the size relative to other smartphones. :?

My Gosh...

It's only one device.. Who the heck cares and why should it matter if it is as big as a cow?

There are enough small teeny weeny little "smartphone" devices on the market with a laughable 2 inch plus screen that will match your Pumpkin Spice Latte Coffee drink sitting by the table. If this device is too big for you, than just ignore it! What a concept!

Personally I am for bigger PDAs, larger screens, and alot more power under the hood. I could care less of the darn thing works as a phone, as long as it has bluetooth (to connect with a bluetooth enabled phone) and WiFi. There aren't enough of these type of devices on the market to make the Windows Mobile platform really usable as a tool in the enterprise market. Push email?? That's not corporate use - that's play time.. I'd rather have a blackberry phone that is cheaper to own than any windows mobile device and honestly more reliable, or just a normal small cell phone with Bluetooth and a data connection so I can connect with my Windows Mobile device.

The smartphone is killing the platform which Windows Mobile has strived to become over the years. All of these wanna be's want a smaller phone - But what can you really do with it tiny phone in a corporate or enterprise environment if it's not just for you own warm and fuzzy feelings? Has anyone heard about the Palm's Centro? Has anyone even read any of it's reviews? The darn thing is so freaking small that many people believe the phone will be just one stop above from being absolutly useless. Size does matter - Not so much the device being huge as is the display and it's controls beyond function able, not just barely and personally the x7501 achieves that in a whole new way.
