Default HTC TyTN II (Kaiser) Available for Pre-Order

http://www.mobileplanet.com/p.aspx?...rtner=pthoughts

"Also known as the HTC Kaiser, the HTC TyTN II Microsoft Windows Mobile 6 Pocket PC phone is the latest QWERTY-keyboard device from HTC. With its compact size and unique tilting 240 x 320 display, it has the technical specifications to be a worthy successor to the HTC TyTN. Sit the unit on a table and tilt the screen for perfect viewing of applications such as Word Mobile or Outlook Mobile. The HTC TyTN II offers a complete mobile office solution. Roam anywhere in the world and use HSDPA for high speed Internet access, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. It gives you more control than ever over the way you work. It also features assisted GPS (sat-nav), a 3 MegaPixel camera, Bluetooth and a microSD card expansion slot. Wireless cellular connectivity comes in the shape of UMTS and HSPDA, as well as GPRS and EDGE."

The HTC TyTN II (better known as the Kaiser) certainly is a beauty, and with the release date edging closer, you can now pre-order your own by making the short trip over to our affiliate hardware store. Now, who here wants one?

I found that last week and posted a message asking about the following quote from Mobile Planet's website:

"Please note: This product features a UK AC adapter, we will deliver it with a US power plug converter.
This phone has the 2100 UMTS UK version and not the 1900 UMTS US version network"

There weren't any replies to my post, so I'll try again here.

Is there going to be a version available for use in the US? With US plugs?

And what about the 2100 UMTS vs. 1900 UMTS? I thought the phone was available for all bands so that if you were a world traveler you could use it anywhere?

What am I missing? Or misunderstanding?

It's been available for preordering on Mobile Planet for more then a month, although pricing changes faster then quotes on a stock exchange  First it was $845 then $987, now it setteled for around $947, what? Did it changed already? By the way they started with name HTC Kaiser, then HTC 4550, and now Tytn II, what's next? Another place to look at specs (they are slightly different there) at http://www.dynamism.com/htc-kaiser/main.shtml and even if they still have it as Kaiser and no price yet, but you can reserve your unit as of right now.

P.S. Interesting, MSmobiles.com posted today almost identical article.... Maybe Expansys started marketing effort for this device and we will see it available soon?

Hmmm only assisted GPS? I wonder if it'll still work even when you don't have a cell signal.

Eh, eh $799.95 now. They were really shooting too high.
What is very irritating about Mobile Planet is that they never have an ETA.
I understand that release and availability dates are nver written in stone but even a tentative one is better than "Soon".

I have been wondering about that as well.. The official spec PDF from HTC lists it as tri-band so it should have all 3G channels... I am not sure where mobile planet got this information and i hope the HTC doc is correct and not the note.

It 'll work.... Just as long as you don't shut down the radio module (effectively shutting down the chipset that also works the GPS part), network coverage don't do nothing to ya
It's the exact same chipset as in the P3600 Trinity, so my guess is that will also work the same way, have the same sensitivity, etc...

Btw; i'm not telling anything new here, the real geeks who would sell their kidney for this baby (like me) have gone over these specs all over the web over and over again... It's no SIRF, but it works almost just as well....only TTFF is somewhat slower...

Quadband GSM, and Triband 3G have already been confirmed by several sources...
ETA ? I've ordered it this week (put it on backorder that is) with our distributor for the Netherlands, and they said it would ship before 13 september! (although one never really knows for sure when it comes to HTC )

Check here for latest official specs by HTC (it was officially announced today or so): http://www.htc.com/product/03-product_tytn_II.htm

The phone is Tri-Band 3G. Sorry for the mix up. Looks like a standard note was left in the description. It should be fixed by now.

We are expecting the TyTN II to arrive at our UK warehouse on or around September 10th. Then it will be sent over to the US. Usually takes 2 days to make the trip. The group has 2000 coming in on that shipment. Pricing has been adjusted down to $799.95!

I will possibly receive a Kaiser phone in about a month for a review for my site. My only hope is that the firmware it comes with does not have the VoIP SIP engine by Microsoft removed, as usually all WM6 phones do.

I'm still curious about the UK plug and US adapter though. Anyone know if it will ever be "plugged" for the US?
