Default Touch Keyboard SIP - Shh! Don't Tell Apple!

http://www.theunwired.net/?item=inp...-with-htc-touch

"As great as HTC's Touch interface is on the first level, on the second level it's pure Windows Mobile Professional again which means you have a soft input panel (aka SIP aka keyboard) which is, more or less, not finger-friendly...Well, there is a new finger-friendly keyboard in town called PocketCM Keyboard and it's now available in version 0.5."

This looks really cool - even before the iPhone, I've gotten used to getting around my device using fingers and thumb but when it comes to text input for things like passwords, out comes the stylus. PocketCM has some really nice features, is skinable and supports VGA, but sadly isn't WM2003 compatible (so I can't test this myself - darn). This is still in beta, but the developer's making a lot of progress and new features are being added at a pretty torrid pace. Grab it while it lasts!

This is much better than the Happy Tapping iPhone-like keyboard I had been using previously on my JAMin.

After having used a hardware keyboard for a bit on the Treo, it's so hard to go back to stylus-based SIP methods. I haven't even used Fitaly in months and I love Fitaly!

I tried this on a Sprint Mogul and the small screen made it tough to use. I think it would be better on my hx4700 with its 4" screen.

However they have a PocketCM that provides an iPhone interface to the contacts database. It is outstanding! It makes finding and calling contacts really simple. Now if Pocket Informant would change their interface. . . .a man can dream!

I don't think we'll get quite to that level of smoothness because we frankly have a lot more to worry about than just contacts lists, but PI is actually being re-architected and reworked in both the UI and underlying code. No announcements here and I don't want to raise expectations as right now I feel like we're never going to get done.

I have used SPB's keyboard and the Happy Tappy keyboard and they didn't work very well. This keyboard works great! I'm using an HTC Touch and I erased all of the other keyboards I've tried. This is the one for the Touch!

Their contacts application works quite well also. However, it omits a few of my categories for some reason.

This keyboard is pretty cool for larger screens. However, I also find the TenGo keyboard really useful. They have a thumb version that makes input blazingly fast. It is all a matter of what works best for each individual, I guess.
