Toshiba Portege G900 Review
"In conclusion, the G900 is a great PDA; it runs windows Mobile 6 professional which is good for early adopters however it does feel a little rushed to market and Toshiba should really have ironed out the obvious problems before releasing it. As a PDA its a device that I am sure will find favour in some areas. However, considering its position a flagship re-entry into the marketplace, Toshiba really should have tried a little harder."
As promised, Tracy and Matt have a review of the Portege G900. Alasdair covers the ins and outs of the G900, but the review unit got bit by the standby bug - you can tell he's a little unhappy. Good points - the screen is superb, USB host, and the biometric scanner. Bad points - the screen/standby bug! Read the review for more details.

Now that the patch to correct the screen not coming on prloblem has been released by Toshiba, I have yet not seen any users comments regarding how effective this patch has been to correct the issue.
Any G900 users out there??? Your comments please.
Regards

I agree - so I'm now another satisfied owner. I'm not sure it's worked for everybody though. Then again the "don't let it switch off" solution had worked for me previously.
Of the other complaints I've seen around:
1. I do think the sound is too low (actually there's no raised lip around the speaker (so maybe it's that when the ambient noise is high?
2. Can't understand the complaints on the net about the screen/brightness. On 100% mine is brighter than my TyTn. For example I was reading eReader in bright sunshine this morning - well what passes for bright sunshine in London! I'm off to the South of France tomorrow - so that will be a sterner test!!!

I agree with the other previous comments, in that I am rather pleased now that I have the patch installed. Great screen, incl brightness, very fast response times. I do wish the volume were higher, and I've not figured out how to light the keyboard easily for typing. I also have trouble finding the internet browsing button in less than full light, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it.
