Default E-TEN and Arima to Jointly Develop 3G/3.5G Mobile Devices

http://www.digitimes.com/news/a20070709PD213.html

"Taiwan-based own-brand handset vendor E-Ten Information Systems and ODM handset maker Arima Communications will sign a cooperation agreement to develop EMP (Ericsson Mobile Platform)-based 3G and 3.5G smartphones, the companies jointly announced last week. The X800, the first 3.5G smartphone to be jointly developed by the two companies, is expected to be launched in the third quarter of this year, said sources at E-Ten. The X800 will support HSDPA, GPS and Wi-Fi technologies."

The X800, which is due in a couple of months, is the first of many mobile devices to be launched by E-TEN this half year. Another three are expected, with rumours suggesting one of them being a QWERTY keyboard version of the X800, much like what the current-day M700 is to the X500.
