Default The Gadgeteer Reviews the Plantronics Discovery 665 Bluetooth Headset

http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/review...uetooth_headset

"Bluetooth headsets are like sneakers, wristwatches and handbags; everyone has their own set of personal criteria when it comes to choosing one. Some people want a headset that is tiny. Some prefer wearing their headset by an ear hook instead of an in-ear bud. Some want the headset to be flashy, while others just want to blend in with the crowd. But when it comes down to it, everyone wants a headset that is easy to use, comfortable and of course, sounds great on both sides of the conversation. Today's Bluetooth headset review is for the Discovery 665 from Plantronics."

Julie's right-on about just how personal Bluetooth headsets have become. Only a couple years ago, strangers used to look at mine like it was some sort of novelty. Now I see them in droves everyday and just like shoes, it's rare that I see the same model twice at any given time. Plantronics is certainly one of the more well-known names with regards to headset solutions in general (even prior to Bluetooth). This latest one from Plantronics has pretty clear sound quality and some nifty charging options, but does it justify the $150 price tag? You be the judge. Julie's review includes several snapshots and some audio samples for your listening pleasure.

I have one, and in my opinion not worth $150 (or even the $106 it cost me after shipping.) I found the cool charging options to not work very well (the connector for the cradle doesn't connect well with the USB cable.) After knocking it out of my ear a few times using it bud only, I added the ear loop. That was a huge mistake. After this, keeping the loop and bud connected was almost impossible. And the quality is awful. My wife played me a message I left on the voice mail at home, and it sounded like I was calling from an underwater tin can. She says I always sound like that with the headset.

I've had a very different experience from yours - it's loose without the ear-loop, and you CAN knock the earbud out if the loop's in place, but I tend to keep it clipped in the charger, which means it's not as easy to lose the earbud as it would be if I just had it stuffed in my pocket. The sound quality's okay - not the BEST, but it's better than my Samsung WEP200, which was also horribly quiet, unlike this one.
