SolSie.com Talks Finger-Friendly Applications
"With the recent Apple's iPhone, the HTC Touch and the LG Prada announcements, the "finger touch" has been the point of discussion all over the Web and evidently, latest surveys also find users are showing strong preference for finger input over a stylus. All that hype makes me wonder what application on PocketPC platform that was designed to use finger instead of stylus. And should software developer create more application using finger interface?"
The concept of "touch" is all the rage these days following HTC's release of the Touch, and Apple's upcoming release of the iPhone. You know, for the last year and half we've worked really hard at providing better one handed support after strong stylus support in our products for the last 7 years. Now we're working on furthering both touch and one-handed interfaces.

I guess my point with this is that touch isn't going away and making a scalable work style based user interfaces, particularly in an application like Pocket Informant is going to be key to the next generation applications.

Here at IKI we have been developing 'finger touch' data capture applications on portable/mobile devices (DOS -> Windows CE -> Windows Mobile) for the past 10+ years, based on our own TouchIT development engine and a concept we call (internally) FBBs

As a user...
After having palm treos for a few years now, I find it frustrating to use devices that do not respond to a finger touch... I still use the stylus on occasion but not nearly as often as I just use my finger. That feature is what makes the iphone seem appealing to my husband and I both, though we are not likely to just run out and purchase one immediately. We are definitely more likely to choose new, equitable technology with finger touch over anything that doesn't have it. edit: that applies to applications as well..
