Default CNET Reviews the Pharos GPS Phone 600e

http://reviews.cnet.com/Pharos_GPS_...%0a%20%20%20%20

"The Pharos GPS Phone 600e isn't a horrible smart phone, but the lack of navigation software and subpar call quality detracts from its overall appeal. Plus, you can get more for your money with other GPS-enabled smart phones."

Good, but not good enough: that's essentially CNET's review of the Pharos GPS Phone 600e (Pharos' version of the E-TEN Glofiish X500) in a nutshell. Do any of you own the 600e? If so, tell us what you think of the device.

After reading the review I understand WHY E-Ten rebranded this phone to Pharos. Pharos has nothing to loose. They already made a quite reputatition with GPS soft, no wonder it is not included. Why would you make things worse than they really are? To add below average software to average phone

Your kidding me? A GPS software company rebrands a phone with GPS in it and does not add their own software to it???!!

What exactly was the point in rebranding it then??

Frankly, it seems awfully foolish of CNET not to realize that there are two versions of the 600: the regular 600, which comes with a 2 GB MicroSD card containing the nav software and complete maps for all of the US and Canada, as well as the 600e, which is for people who already own their own set of maps that they'd rather use, and is thus $100 cheaper.

That was the first thing i noticed. It is also the second review i've seen where Mobile shell is shown on the screen in the photos. Must be a very popular program.

I also noticed the program was loaded and in the picture. Hard to say... I have been using the demo program for the last month (just uninstall, load a back up of my registry, soft rest and load demo again). Haven't decided if its just a novelty for me or something I will actually use permantly.
