Treo 750, 8525 Seeing WM6 Upgrades
"We had a chance to peep an "eyes-only" presentation from AT&T with the dirty details on WM6 for current and future devices, with the newly-branded Cingular apparently poised to introduce patches for three of its hottest handsets. The word is that the Treo 750, 8525, and the Blackjack will see downloadable updates released for current owners, and that WM6 will be pre-installed on all devices launched in 2007."
In addition to Engadget's unofficial discovery (and the beta pics floating around from 3GSM), Palm today finally got around to officially announcing what was already known: the Treo 750 will be getting a WM6 upgrade. Just as important, this upgrade will enable HSDPA support on the 750. Alas, no release dates yet, and what I'm really curious about is if (when?) Palm will announce a 320x320 Treo unit running WM6.

In theory, both WM5 and WM6 can, as long as they support the current DPIs.
I've been able to get the WM5 emulator running at 800x600, with all of the native apps working correctly at the standard 96 DPI (QVGA resolution). I believe that's why Toshiba is creating a 800x480 device.
So, if an OEM creates a 640x640 device and sticks to 128 DPI (which is what the 320x320 devices are going to use), then it's theoretically possible.

Wouldn't an unlocked Treo 750 work on the T-Mobile if you popped in your Sim?

Yes, but it wouldn't work with the upcoming 3G network, only EDGE.

No, 320x320 was a special addition at an OEM's request. You can read the full details here.
Zidane: while the underlying CE OS technically supports 640x640, I don't think Microsoft supports this resolution for actual devices. After 320x320, we'll be likely to see 480x480 square screens, which I think would keep me happy for the foreseeable future.

Uh, what? The 8125 is not a new device. For all we know, it doesn't even meet Microsoft's hardware requirements for WM6.
