Default Yahoo! Reinvents Search for the Mobile Web

http://yhoo.client.shareholder.com/...eleaseID=234360

"Yahoo! oneSearch is designed to make searching for and finding information as quick as possible for consumers by providing relevant results right on the page such as news headlines, images, business listings and more as well as easy navigation to other websites. For example, if a consumer wants to go to a movie this weekend, they just need to type the name of the movie into the search box. The search results would first list the movie, including a user rating, local theaters the movie is playing at, news headlines related to the movie and more. To dig more deeply into the results, a consumer would simply need to click on any item or category. For example, to see all the movies playing at a specific listed theater, just click on the theater name."

For those with a limited data plan, Yahoo! oneSearch might be a real wallet-saver. To try Yahoo! oneSearch on your mobile phone, open your browser and type in m.yahoo.com. I don't have a data-plan so I can't test this out. Anyone want to give it a whirl and let us know your thoughts?

Somehow I just keep breathing. Our cell service is a pre-paid plan, so not a lot of frills. So, did you try it out?

Well I did but it's US-only for any of the news/weather/finance features. Personally I will be sticking to Google

Ooooh wait I found the Australian version at http://au.m.yahoo.com/

Some nice features there. Weather is pretty good, but I have SPB Mobile Shell for that.

Thanks, MitchellO. I did pull up the address on my wifi enabled Pocket PC but didn't have time to play around with it.

I think I like it better than Google Local for two reasons: it remembers your location so you don't have to enter that every time, and it gives you results instead of links. I've found the results to be accurate and relevant too.

If you live in a Yahoo supported country, it probably fine, but for us, not living in: Asia, Argentina, Australia & New Zealand, Brazil, France, Germany, Hongkong, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, UK & Ireland, it's of no use, just like MSN Search, and other american search engines

Some times it s**** to live in a small country, with a language of its own :?
