Default nVidia Announces the New GoForce 6100 Processor for Future Mobile Phones

http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_39653.html

"In order to meet the growing multimedia demands of today's mobile phone user, NVIDIA Corporation...today unveiled its new strategy to target the rapidly growing applications processor market. The NVIDIA GoForce 6100, the company's first in a family of applications processors, is a highly integrated and optimized multimedia solution that consumes less than half the power of any applications processor available on the market today."

The image was obviously "Photoshopped" but the message is that nVidia is jumping into the fray looking to make some noise in this new class of mobile phones (i.e. iPhone) that have yet to hit the market. Thoughts?

Didn't nvidia release a gpu awhile back for the same purpose that I don't recall being used in any devices, but the market is so large I might have missed it. I'm not trying to put them down, I think manufacturers should embrace this.

I think only the XDA flame uses the GoForce5500. But it is obvious, why those chips are not interesting to companies like HTC or Nokia.
Why use two separate chips, when you can have a System-on-Chip from Samsung, TI or Marvel? Therefore NVidia provides also a SoC (i.e. the GoForce 6100). One chip in such an embedded device is always better than two or more.

I don't see nokia needing it, at least as of yet. most nokia's still run 200mhz samsung's. and although they lag at times i don't think that it's enough of an issue, and the ram is also very low. nokia is an intresting company to watch this year with the new gaming phone (S) they are working on like the n-gage.
