Default Microsoft Released Daylight Savings Patch for Windows Mobile

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/daylightsaving/default.mspx

"Congress has changed the dates for Daylight Saving Time (DST) in the United States starting in 2007. Canada has adopted similar DST dates. These changes could cause clocks and Microsoft Outlook calendar appointments on Windows Mobile-powered devices to display incorrect times for March 11 April 1, 2007 and October 28 November 4, 2007 and again in subsequent years."

You should be able to visit this Windows Mobile page and download the CAB directly to your device if you don't routinely synchronize with a PC. Please note there are a number of steps involved, and may require the updating of Outlook, Exchange and your PC as well, not to mention that once the update is applied on your device, you must change timezones to get the new patch to "take," so be sure to do this when you have a few minutes to ensure it is done properly. My understanding is those of you on the cutting edge with Windows Mobile 6, Office 2007, Windows Vista or Exchange 2007 don't need to do anything as these systems already account for this. I know I have some work to do this weekend on my Exchange 2003 environment. :?

Please, if any of you know others using Windows Mobile devices, point them to this information. Most people are unaware of the change or how it will impact their computing devices.

Unfortunately, that is not the case. Read up on the Outlook DST tool. Outlook 2007 doesn't require it, but MS recommends you use it because it is better than the one that shipped with Office 2007. ANd 2003 and earlier don't have it at all.

And from where i am sitting, the DST updates are in "recommended" updates, but not critical, so AU isn't grabbing them.

i read the articles at www/microsoft.com/DST2007. i'm not sure what part of that process this replaces. probably jsut the .cab file for the handset that can be downloaded... I installed the patch on my 8525. i guess i'll have to wait and see what happens...

I tried to install the cab on my Toshiba e800 and the setup failed because the WM2003SE OS complained that the DST2007.CAB file is not a valid Windows CE Setup file. I guess this is for WM5.0 and later. I did install the XP and Outlook patches, so hopefully after syncing and then changing my time zone to a different one and then back, my e800 will have the new setting. Does anyone know a way to confirm it carried over to my device?

Would simply changing the time zone be alright? Or would that cause other problems? I'm not too confident with MS's patches.

My device missed the time change in October. However, MemMaid has been acknowledging the April 1 time change for a while now. Even after following the instructions given on Microsoft's DST change page. :worried:

no. appointments are not time dependent, they are time-zone dependent. moving to another TZ will shift the appointments.
