Default More on Socket's Handheld for Enterprise Mobility

http://www.socketmobile.com/default.asp

"Socket is expanding into the systems business by introducing a line of handheld mobile computer products specifically designed to meet the business need of mobile workers involved in small to medium scale deployments. Socket's unique, solutions-focused mobile computing product line will be unveiled in Q2."

Socket Mobile has revealed additional details on its handheld scheduled for release in the second quarter of this year, and it's blessed with protected CF and SD slots, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, rubberized grips, and a durable shell. As for the design, if you look at the image above and squint hard, you may see something through that blue shroud.

Darius, since I'm curious as a cat but going blind as a bat I'm wondering when YOU squint thru the " Blue Shroud " what do you see? Thanks!

Why, a Pocket PC, of course!

Okay, take it all with a grain of salt, but I see a device that resembles the LOOX C and N series (so we're dealing with a rectangular form factor and a 3.5"-ish touch screen), a D-pad with four black buttons adjacent to it, a Socket Mobile logo located above the screen (near the CF and SD slots), and indicator lights in the top-left corner (most likely for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and the battery status).

Thanks Darius!

I kept getting thrown off kilter in PPC comparisons not only by eyesight 8O, but by the arrangement of the D-pad and surrounding button configurations. The Fujitsu- Siemens Loox C and N series look really DO come close with the exception of the Loox ' buttons ' being square-like and Socket's ovalish.

You really know your PPC's! :werenotworthy:
