O2 Xda Flame to Sell for US$1100?
The O2 Xda Flame (which we introduced not once, but twice), may have a final price tag. Australian-based online reseller, Anything Online, has priced it at AU$1541.36, which translates to around US$1100. It's a lot to pay for a Pocket PC Phone, though with eye-popping features like an NVIDIA GoForce 5500, 3.6" VGA display, 2GB ROM, and TV-out, I'm willing to bet that a few of you would happily stomach the cost. O2 has yet to reveal an official release date for the Flame, though all signs point to it dropping on Asian-Pacific shores within the next couple of months. Anyone here hoping to pick one up?

Ouch! Pretty expensive. I may opt for the OQO 02 instead

I would, but would you have to be in Asia to buy it or can it be ordered online? But then you have to be in Asia anyways to use the phone features i guess? I do not have a Phone/PDA combo, if I would to get this it would work without the phone part? Sorry for so much questions ops:

Compared tothat price, even the iPhone looks reasonable priced.
I know Flame has iPhone easily beat in features, but there are still things like more built in storage (2GB vs. 4/8GB), multitouch display...
In any case if an "average" person would have a choice between Flame and iPhone I'm pretty sure Apple would win.
I really like the Flame as far as features go, but at that price, it's just too expensive. It looks like I'll have to upgrade to another QVGA device in 2007.

Flame? At that price it will have to be renamed the Fizzle.

I would like to get one but that price is just a bit too high. I have the new Dopod D810 and I'm quite happy with it for travelling urposes it does the job. If I need anything more then I take out my laptop computer which beats the PDA hands down A nice & small PDA phone with good features is all one really needs. anything more and one can't beat a light portable laptop computer. I have the new Dopod D810 and it is very nice. If the screen on that D810 was VGA then I would be stylin..

If you're not in the Asia-Pacific region, you'll be able to import it by ordering online. Anything Online, for example, ships internationally.

Not really. We'll have to know the final specs to know for sure, but it appears to be tri-band 3G capable, meaning several other 3G networks outside of the Asia-Pacific should be able to accept it.

Yes, it'll still work. You'll simply receive an invalid or missing SIM warning when you start up the device.

I've bought two devices from Anything Online (a KJAM and an SP5) and their service and speed are excellent! Highly recommend them.
