Default Notifications Queue Question

Before I started over on my PPC (hard reset, reinstall a limited no. of app's etc.) a few weeks back, I noticed that in the Notifications Queue I had a ridiculously large number of items that look like this:

\\.\Notifications\NamedEvents\SCRIPT:0x00abcde (where abcde is a hexadecimal no. with that many digits)

After the hard reset, I only had two of those items in the queue. Now, I have five. I'm really curious to know what they are and what they are supposed to do. I can't work out what they are associated with, or what event triggers off the appearance of a new one. I don't know whether they are safe to delete or whether I should leave them well alone.

Can anyone here throw some light on these queue items? I'd appreciate it.

Martin.
