HP iPaq rw6815 Review
"Once upon a time, HP was firmly at the front of the Windows Mobile Pocket PC pack, its new ranges of devices eagerly awaited, particularly within the business community, which is where it focused its attentions. That�s changed as more and more companies have come on board the Pocket PC bandwagon, and these days, HP is more within the pack than leading it. This is not to say that the company doesn�t still turn out good devices, just that the competition is tougher, and HP has had to work hard to survive. It is in that context that the iPAQ rw6815 Personal Messenger has to be evaluated."
Overall, Sandra Vogel from TrustedReviews was not very impressed with the rw6815. With few exceptions, she believes it has a "could have done better" feel. Any users of the rw6815 want to chime in? What do you like about it and what would you change?

The article starts wrong. HP never was at the "front of" the pack. Compaq was! After HP took Compaq over both companies products (which had at that point been independantly developped with distinct features each with its own strenght, weaknesses and followers, whereby Compaq's Ipac leading the market) merged into a bland line of uninspiring products. Things went downhill since then for HP although product quality increased.
But because of HP's lacklustre name in the market other companies took their change to grab it. Even HTC whom used to be exclusivly commisioned by the big names, took matters (literally) into their own hands/brand.

the review mentions that the screen cover does not co ver the buttons. that's so the iPAQ can be used as a phon e (by pressing the buttons) without having to raise the cover. the cover nicely protects the screen from face fat in that scenario.
the review is light in real content and is too negative.
I think one of the major advantages is the size of the unit. it compares well to my Nokia 6021 phone which in itself is a small phone.
the hw6815 is a great device, and for me the only thing missing is GPS.
