Cingular to Offer MySpace on Cell Phones
"Cingular, the largest U.S. wireless phone carrier, will offer a version of popular Internet social network MySpace on its phones in an expansion of their partnership, the companies plan to announce on Monday. For an additional $2.99 per month, customers will be able to upload photos taken on cellphones, read and respond to MySpace e-mails, update blog entries and view and search for friends from their handsets."
For those passionate about MySpace, Cingular offers a way to stay connected to your friends. For parents concerned about MySpace, Cingular says this offering is compatible with their Parental Controls feature and can be locked out. What I want to know is, are those annoying songs going to load up when you look at a Myspace page on your mobile phone?

What's so difficult about accessing Myspace by opening PIE and typing in www.myspace.com? Oh yeah, I forget about those silly non-Smartphone users...

Actually, MySpace and FaceBook both are very usable on my LG CU-500. I use Opera Mini 3 - which is amazing - and it displays most content very well. The only thing that's a real pain is typing my password and username when needed. MySpace at least remembers the username. Facebook may too - I'm new to that. But I have used both on my mobile phone and I think Opera Mini (which is free) will run on many mobile phones.
I'm hoping the service Cingular is offering will have live feeds to notify you of things that you select - like friend add requests, comment posts, or new messages.

MSN mobile has had a myspace link for quite sometime now.. This is nothing new... It is just that Cingular has chosen to advertise it and make you think they are giving you something new....

If so, what is Cingular offering for $2.99 that you can't already get for free?
